Aid convoy successfully arrives at two hospitals in northern Gaza following nine prior attempts.

After nine previous attempts, two hospitals in northern Gaza had aid convoys reach them, said the World Health Organization.

"Obviously it's a life-saving mission for Kamal Adwan and Al-Sahaba hospitals," WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Sunday. But only one mission to resupply the health facility will not get them fixed in a long-term way.

The mission delivered blood, medical supplies and medicine to Al-Sahaba Hospital and also critical fuel supplies to both hospitals. Critical patients were transferred from Kamal Adwan to Al-Shifa hospital.

In the last few days, Kamal Adwan Hospital had repeatedly warned that it was poised to lose its capability to provide life-saving medical equipment.

In the face of a staggering burden of about 60 in-patients, this hospital is receiving at least 50-70 injured daily, Tedros stated. As if that was not enough, more context: In the last few days, Israel accelerated its offensive on northern Gaza and ordered evacuations of some residents and hospitals; the Gaza Government Media Office claims that the figure of people dead from bombardments in Jabalya refugee camp was about 300 in the last nine days-dating back to October 10, 2023. The WHO has said that military forces harassed mission staff on their route. "The missions finished amid hostilities being contested. The security screenings and temporary detentions subjecting @WHO @PalestineRCS drivers at a checkpoint were unacceptable," Tedros said. Tedros once again reiterated calls from his organization for a ceasefire in Gaza and the "sustained facilitation of humanitarian missions."
