Harris proposes a jobs policy that Trump had previously enacted through an executive order.

Vice President Kamala Harris recently proposed a policy initially introduced by former President Donald Trump via an executive order. While campaigning in Pennsylvania on Friday, Harris outlined her plan to remove college degree requirements for certain federal jobs if she becomes president.

“As president, I will get rid of the unnecessary degree requirements for federal jobs to increase opportunities for people without a four-year degree,” Harris said in her speech in Wilkes-Barre.

The Trump campaign’s "Trump War Room" X account responded to a clip of Harris’ remarks, posting, "Hey can I borrow your homework? I’ll just change a few things so nobody notices."

Trump had previously addressed the same issue on June 26, 2020, when he signed an executive order instructing the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to revise qualifications for federal jobs. The order allowed for minimum education requirements only when legally necessary for the job.

This initiative originated from the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board, co-chaired by Ivanka Trump, which was formed in 2018 to enhance job training and shift federal hiring focus from degrees to skills. “The federal government will no longer be narrowly focused on where you went to school, but on the skills and talents you bring to the job,” Ivanka Trump said at the time.

Several states, including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado, and Utah, followed suit by adopting similar policies.

This isn't the first time Harris has mirrored a Trump policy. In August, she proposed eliminating taxes on tips at a rally in Las Vegas, just two months after Trump made the same pledge. Additionally, Harris introduced a $6,000 child tax credit proposal, shortly after Trump’s running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance, suggested a $5,000 child tax credit.
